I’m sure this question has been posed here before, but what is your automotive spirit animal? The basic concept of spirit animals is an animal that represents your basic personality and who you are, so the concept of this post is a car that represents those same things. For example, if you were athletic or were more of a “jock”, then you would probably have a faster car. If you were good looking, you would have a good looking car, like a DeTomaso Pantera. If you were great t everything, you’d have a supercar, the ultimate car. For example, I’m a (facelifted) Citroen Ami 8 because I’m insanely nerdy, definitely not athletic, and my attractiveness is an acquired taste. Or that could just be a reflection on my very, very low self esteem. You can post as many vehicles that reflect on you in the comments; for example, other ones for me would be the Citroen Dyane, Renault Dauphine, and Saab 93. Try to be fairly honest, because no one ever lies about themselves and who they are on the internet. Anyway, what’s your Spirit . . . . . .car?

Syclone. Does things the Sonoma was never intended to do and does themn well. Doesn’t do truck stuff quite so well.

In the same way, many thing that I’m naturally good at I really don’t enjoy, and stuff that you wouldn’t expect me to be into I do enjoy and am better than I ever would have expected to be.

The show’s pretty good; I would go as far as to say it was better than some of the later seasons of top gear.

I have a scale model literally just like the one in the picture, assuming it’s a Renault and not a Hino.

I’m thinking Citroen C6. Weird but ultimately not too unconventional underneath, coming from a good family, and a big, slow softie. Not as smart as the German go-getters but competent in its own way. Doubtful reliability is also a feature. :P

A 1965 Chrysler Imperial. Old, too big, and out of style with a nerd background that’s not apparent at first.

Kind of hard to write about yourself without struggling. Cool post though! I’ll bite:

‘66 Biscayne 427.

Simple to maintain, expensive to keep fed. Large but not fat. Athleticism skewed heavily in one direction. Not ugly but not the best looking car on the lot. Tough to slow down when excited, for better or worse.

It’s the Renault. It’s a car I would like to own, but on the other hand I don’t really know what I’d do with it, they make a Subaru 360 feel fast.

Funny, this is the second time I’ve had opportunity to post this vehicle today, the first being in Desu-san-desu’s “12 cars that make you” post.

I might be a VW DoKa Syncro. Simple and effective, not without weakness, but also not much bullshit and certainly not normal. Not fast or fond of rapid direction changes, but it’ll pull its weight and get wherever needs going, pulling others out along the way.

Kinja'd!!!

I might wake up tomorrow and feel some other car, but right now today, this is it.

Suzuki Esteem: I am not very athletic but surprisingly capable, dependable, weird, quarky, and fun but I do have some hidden flaws. Other cars that could represent me are the Renault Dauphine and AMC Pacer Stationwagon.

Well, the Saab is only a weekend/when you can’t bike to work car, right? You could always sell it and buy a Renault since you’re mostly driving around Austin.

I plan on taking the Saab on some road trips, plus I promised myself I would hang on to it for at least 5 years. If I got a second car, a Subaru 360 would probably fill that slot first. Unless a 4cv or Daihatsu midget fell into my lap first.

Kinja'd!!! Spridget > Berang

Kinja'd!!!0

Even if you promised yourself that you’d keep it for 5 years, if it’s not what you really want, and you can find a 360, Daihatsu or Renault for a good price, then sell it. The Saab’s a good car, but if you can have your dream car, then why bother with it?

As for the road trip, you drove a Subaru 360 cross country. I’m sure you could manage it with Renault. At least since it’s (marginally) larger than the 360, people could see your tiny, slow car moving.

Because the Saab is a good beater. Indeed I think it’s one of the few imports of its era that makes a good beater even today. I don’t have to worry about it too much, and that’s sort of the fun of having it.

And although I like the 4cv, the 360 is more my dream car.

The Renault definitely wouldn’t have the same beater joy. While reliable, it’s still a French car, so it has its French car quirks, which means you’ll always be pushing a little bit harder to keep it working than you would have with the Saab. I think a 360 would have the same sort of fun; just like the Saab, once you get it running, it’ll basically run forever.
